Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh officials ordered residents living along the Siji River to find higher ground immediately. A massive landslide at the Siji-Magi Block Point blocked the river flow. The pile-up created a dangerous natural dam that threatens to burst. Sudden collapse could trigger a flash flood without any warning. This risk endangers homes, roads, and people living downstream in both Arunachal and Assam.

Lower Siang Superintendent of Police Bomken Basar warned that the water buildup remains a severe threat to nearby settlements. "The water ponding created in the Siji River continues to pose a significant risk to downstream settlements," Basar said. Police and local officials are using alarms and social media to spread the word. They alerted authorities in Assam to prepare for possible flooding.

Residents must stay away from the banks. Do not travel near the water. Officials expect people to pack bags and wait for evacuation orders. Report rising water levels or strange sounds to the police right away. While some water has begun to leak past the blockage, the threat of a full collapse persists. The Army is on standby to help if the river breaks loose.
