Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has lauded the Indian Army's Gajraj Corps for successfully hosting Yak Mela 2026 at Chuna High Ground. The event took place at an altitude of 14,000 feet, focusing on the preservation of the Himalayan ecosystem and the empowerment of frontier communities.

Khandu expressed his support on social media, noting that the initiative effectively highlights yak conservation and protects traditional livelihoods. He described the mela as a celebration of the resilience and cultural heritage found within the region's remote border areas.

Beyond cultural promotion, the Chief Minister highlighted the medical camp provided for residents of Mago and Hydel villages. He cited the effort as a positive example of civil-military cooperation. The event was made possible through a collaboration between the National Research Centre on Yak, local villagers, and the Indian Army.
