Arunachal Athlete Khya Tai Bengde Strikes Gold in Dhaka

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh karate athlete Khya Tai Bengde struck gold at the 10th South Asian Karate Championship 2026. He dominated the Senior Male Team Kata event in Dhaka, Bangladesh. His performance helped Team India clinch the overall championship title for the second year in a row. This win marks a major career high for the athlete.

His family celebrated the victory this week. They claimed the medal acts as a sign of his hard work, noting that the win "reflected his dedication, discipline and commitment to excellence." The victory cements his status as a top competitor in the region.

Bengde is not stopping in Bangladesh. He officially qualified to represent India at the 11th Commonwealth Karate Championship. That event takes place this November in Scotland, United Kingdom. He remains a key figure for young athletes back home in Arunachal Pradesh.
