Itanagar: Gumin Mize, the president of the Arunachal Pradesh Anti Drugs Warriors, was granted bail on May 26. The decision marks a significant development in a case that sparked public outcry across the state following allegations of custodial torture while he was held in Assam.

His arrest prompted widespread demands for an impartial investigation from various civil society organizations. The Adi Students Union had scheduled a 12-hour bandh across the East Siang district for May 27 to protest the detention. The group intended to hold the strike from 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM to pressure authorities for his release.

The student union had planned to exempt essential services such as hospitals, pharmacies, emergency responders, and media personnel from the shutdown. With the court granting bail, the planned protest is no longer necessary. Legal proceedings regarding the case remain ongoing, and public attention remains focused on the outcome.
