Imphal: The All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur (ANSAM) slammed the Kuki-Zo Council’s recent apology. They called the statement an insult to all Naga people. The group claims the apology fails to acknowledge the May 13, 2026, murders of six Naga hostages at Leilon Vaiphei Kuki Village. ANSAM insists the act shows arrogance rather than regret.

The student group specifically took issue with the language used by the Kuki-Zo leadership. "The derogatory and contemptuous use of the term Katcha Nagas by these nomadic leaders, who are also refugees historically, is wholly unacceptable, historically untenable, and profoundly offensive," the group stated in a press release. They argued that such rhetoric worsens the pain of the families involved.

ANSAM is demanding real action. They want the specific killers identified and locked up. The association argues that symbolic gestures cannot replace legal accountability. They also challenged the Kuki-Zo Council’s legitimacy. They questioned whether the Zomi people actually support these leaders or the apology itself. The group also denied any Naga involvement in the separate killing of three Thadou church leaders, calling those accusations malicious lies.

The group is now pressing the Manipur and Indian governments to step in. They want immediate investigations into the abduction and mutilation of the hostages. ANSAM warned that the government must act now. They refuse to accept empty words while the killers remain free.
