Imphal: Anal Naga civil society leaders met Manipur Director General of Police Mukesh Singh in Chandel on Monday. They want state security forces sent to vulnerable villages immediately. Local communities feel exposed and afraid. The Anal Naga Tangpi led the coalition, joined by groups like Anal Sinnu Ruwl and the Anallon Chief Association.
The groups highlighted security gaps in the Western Valley, Sulam area, and Green Hills. They formally requested "the urgent deployment of adequate State Security Forces in vulnerable areas to safeguard the lives, property, and fundamental rights of innocent civilians." These remote regions currently fall under the jurisdiction of Kakching and Tengnoupal police stations.
Residents face constant threats of intimidation. This insecurity chokes off farming and schools. Villagers cannot move safely. The CSOs provided a list of specific locations needing protection, including Duthang, Libung, Larong, and Toupokpi. They argue that a constant police presence remains the only way to stop violence and keep public order. Regular patrols are now a top priority.
