Amit Shah Arrives in Shillong for 73rd North Eastern Council Plenary Session

Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma welcomed Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Shillong on Thursday for the 73rd Plenary Session of the North Eastern Council. Expressing his approval, Sangma stated, Glad to welcome Honble Union Home Minister and Chairman of the North Eastern Council, Shri Amit Shah ji to Shillong for the 73rd NEC Plenary Session.

Chaired by Shah, the meeting brings together governors and chief ministers from all eight Northeastern states. Attendees also include Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya Scindia, Minister of State for DoNER Sukanta Majumdar, and various senior government officials.

The session focuses on reviewing progress made by high level task forces dedicated to regional development. Key sectors under discussion include tourism, agriculture, horticulture, investment promotion, infrastructure, and connectivity. The council is also addressing regional self reliance in the production of milk, eggs, fish, and meat, alongside efforts to promote sports, handlooms, and handicrafts.

Officials are also evaluating the North East Vision Plan 2047. This roadmap is designed to guide the region toward long term economic growth, innovation, sustainability, and cultural preservation.
