Guwahati: All India United Democratic Front general secretary Rafiqul Islam spoke out on August 29 regarding the catastrophic flooding currently ravaging Nepal. The situation remains dire. Large-scale destruction and loss of life continue to plague the nation as rescue crews labor through the wreckage.
Islam expressed deep sorrow for the victims. He noted that residents have lost their houses and personal property to the rising waters. Many people were swept away. The death toll continues to rise. "What happened in Nepal is very sad and painful. Many people were swept away in the water, losing their homes, belongings, and, tragically, their lives," Islam said.
The legislator offered his condolences to the bereaved families. He prayed for the survivors to find the fortitude needed to rebuild. While recognizing the ongoing relief efforts led by India and the Nepal government, he issued a plea for more aid. "At such a difficult time, everyone should come together and support the affected people in the spirit of humanity," he stated. Rescue teams remain on the ground to assist those trapped in the disaster zones.
