Kohima: The Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang Music Ministry held its first music festival on July 31 at Impur. The event gathered 396 singers and 12 church choirs from Zone I. They came together for a day of worship and fellowship. Music Coordinator Asenla Longchar led the event. Choirs from Alempang, Chakpa, Chuchuyimpang, Impur, Longjang, Longjang Compound, Longkong, Longmisa, Longpa, Süngkomen, Tzüsapang, and Yisemyong Baptist churches participated.
Longchar told the crowd the festival was meant to glorify God and build unity among churches. She wants younger generations to embrace music ministry. She views music as a way to nurture faith and pass down a spiritual legacy rather than just a simple church activity.
ABAM Executive Secretary Rev Temsü Jamir spoke to the choir members. He told them that church singing is a sacred calling. He urged singers to work with humility and spiritual focus. Jamir also told Ao Baptist churches to move past routine worship habits. He wants services to be vibrant and Christ-centered. He sees choir members as spiritual leaders who must do more than just perform.
"When worship flows from hearts fully surrendered to God, music becomes a powerful instrument through which the congregation is drawn closer to God, renewed in faith and transformed by His presence," Jamir said. The festival ended by reaffirming that music is a ministry for spiritual growth. Organizers plan to keep strengthening this ministry across the ABAM family.
