Kohima: Fifteen people finished the first Cross-Cultural Missionary Training Programme in Impur on October 2. The Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang ran the course for nearly two months. It started August 13. The project partnered with the United States-based Gateway Seminary and the local Impur Bible Seminary. Trainees spent 10 days on practical field assignments in Kolkata, West Bengal, and Kathmandu, Nepal.
Participants met at Covenant Hall for the final ceremony to swap stories from the field. Rev Talijungla, the ABAM Vice-President, told the group to keep their focus. He said, "Go forth with confidence in Christ-given authority to witness and proclaim the Gospel in the context of the people they are called to serve." He stressed the need for humility and sensitivity when working in new cultures.
ABAM Secretary for Church and Mission Rev Dr Yapang Mollier noted the church group has operated mission work since 1897. He credited Missionary Lipokwati Lemtur for driving the coordination of the partnership and the logistics of the field trips. Rev Temsu Jamir, the Executive Secretary of ABAM, handed out completion certificates to all 15 graduates at the end of the event.
