Aizawl: The Zoram People’s Movement has officially nominated party spokesperson K. Laltluangkima as its candidate for Mizoram’s single Rajya Sabha seat. The election is set to take place on June 18.

The ZPM enters the race with a significant advantage in the 40-member Assembly, where the party currently holds 27 seats. This majority position places them in a strong spot for the upcoming vote.

Other political parties are still determining their strategies. The Congress party, which controls only one seat in the Assembly, does not expect to put forward a candidate, according to spokesperson Lalremruata Renthlei. Meanwhile, the Mizo National Front, which holds 10 members, plans to participate in the contest. The BJP currently occupies the remaining two seats in the legislature.
