Kohima: Stone material suppliers from the Ralan and Yanmhon areas in Wokha district have officially petitioned the Forest Department to address a transport suspension impacting the Golaghat sector. The representation was submitted on June 10 to the conservator of forests through the Wokha Divisional Forest Officer, seeking immediate intervention to resolve the ongoing logistical deadlock.
The suppliers report that current restrictions have halted vehicle movement, effectively crippling the transport of essential stone materials. This disruption has created significant financial strain for workers and families who rely on the industry for their daily survival. The group warned that continued delays will exacerbate hardships for those whose income depends on the trade.
The petition stresses the urgent need for a balanced approach that protects the interests of local stakeholders. In their appeal, the suppliers urged authorities to take necessary steps to restore normalcy, noting that the matter requires urgent attention because of the practical difficulties being faced on the ground. The suppliers hope that government intervention will allow them to resume operations and support the affected households that depend on the sector.
