Kohima: The Wokha District BJP Youth Wing handed out free seeds to farmers in Longsa village on July 1. President Shanchothung A Ezung led the effort. They gave away corn, pea, soybean, and peanut varieties chosen specifically for the local climate. The event aims to boost agricultural production in the region.
Ezung told the crowd that many rural residents miss out on state welfare because they lack information. His group wants to fix that. "The youth wing seeks to bridge this gap by creating awareness and ensuring that eligible beneficiaries are able to avail themselves of such initiatives," Ezung said. The team plans to keep pushing for more outreach programs across the district.
The seeds came from Chumbemo Jerret Patton, the Political Attendant to Advisor Mhathung Yanthan. Hachio Patton, a PRO to the Deputy Chief Minister, also helped support the drive. Organizers reported a high turnout from villagers eager to plant the new crops.
