Kohima: Wokha District Planning and Development Board members met on June 10 to address essential infrastructure and public services. Chaired by advisor for Agriculture, Mhathung Yanthan, the meeting reviewed the status of a proposed district hospital, water pond restoration, landslide prevention in Doyang, and the expansion of transport services. Health officials raised concerns regarding access to medical care, leading to discussions on establishing new health sub-centres in Pyangsa and Aree New.

During institutional visits to the District Institute of Education and Training and Bailey Baptist College, leaders evaluated academic challenges. Principals reported hurdles including poor road access and limited sports infrastructure. In response to the difficulties faced by Bailey Baptist College, MLA Mhonbemo Humtsoe pledged to sponsor six students this year, while Yanthan committed support for a new library and table tennis facilities.

Separately, the Bhandari Sub-Divisional Planning and Development Board gathered to congratulate MLA Achumbemo Kikon on his new role as advisor to the Chief Minister. Kikon provided an update on the Nagaland Foothill Road project, stating, "I expressed satisfaction with the completed stretches and stressed the need for timely completion of the remaining work while maintaining quality and prescribed specifications."

Other regional updates included the power department's smart meter initiative and veterinary surveillance for African Swine Fever, which currently shows no detected cases in the sub-division. To improve academic performance, the Bhandari district administration resolved to initiate regular monitoring visits to local government schools starting this year.
