Kohima: The Western Sumi Youth Front (WSYF) has issued a strong condemnation following the reported sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl in Dimapur. The incident, which surfaced on May 24, 2026, prompted the youth organization to label the crime as a heinous violation of societal values.
WSYF officials stated that the assault against an innocent child is abhorrent and goes against the commitment to protect the dignity and honor of women. In a public statement, the group declared, "any individual who failed to respect and protect the sanctity of women forfeited their standing in a civilised society."
Authorities have already apprehended three suspects in connection with the case. The WSYF praised law enforcement for their rapid response, noting that the arrests help maintain public trust in the legal system. The organization is now calling for a thorough investigation to ensure the accused face the strictest possible penalties to serve as a deterrent against future violence.
Beyond seeking legal retribution, the group expressed deep solidarity with the victim and her family. They warned that anyone involved in such criminal activity will find no refuge in the community and reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding the peace and integrity of the region.
