Konsakhul Naga Village Alleges Armed Ambush by KNF(P) Cadres; Two Youths Injured, One Missing

Imphal: Residents of Konsakhul Naga Village in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district have alleged that three of their youths were ambushed on Sunday morning while inspecting a disrupted water supply line, leaving two with bullet injuries and one person still missing.

According to reports from the village, the incident occurred at approximately 10:55 AM on May 31, 2026. Villagers said that the water supply serving Konsakhul had been deliberately cut off, prompting three youths to go to the river near the Konsakhul picnic spot to check the pipeline. They were then allegedly ambushed by armed cadres of the Kuki National Front - KNF(P) in collaboration with individuals from Leilon Vaiphei village.

Two of the youths reportedly sustained bullet injuries, while the third remains missing at the time of filing this report. The alleged attack has sparked fear and insecurity among residents, who describe it as an unprovoked act of violence against civilians.

The Tagiu stream, where water contamination, through alleged poisoning, is now suspected, has long been a lifeline for Konsakhul and the wider Imphal Valley, serving as the primary source of the Singda Dam reservoir.

UPDATE as of 4:30pm: The main victim has been taken to the hospital for necessary medical aid by the Army while the 2nd victim was given first aid. The 3rd person is reportedly being found unharmed on the other side of the mountain.
