Shillong: Voice of the People Party president Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit wants citizens to hit the streets. He issued a call on Tuesday for a peaceful march to the Main Secretariat on August 6. The goal is to protest the MDA government for what Basaiawmoit describes as anti-local and anti-poor policies.
Corruption is rampant. The party claims divisive policies and environmental destruction are masquerading as development projects. Basaiawmoit insists residents of Meghalaya are suffering through multiple hardships right now. He thinks it is time to force a change in direction.
Basaiawmoit is appealing to all “right-thinking people” to show up. He specifically wants those hurt by recent government decisions to join the effort. This march is part of a larger ongoing campaign against the MDA regime. Basaiawmoit says the state needs unity to secure a better future.
