Guwahati: Locals in Belpara village, located in Boko, captured a massive python early on September 4. The reptile measured 15 feet long and weighed close to 30 kilograms. It was sitting in a tree.
Villagers spotted the snake and quickly moved to pull it down. They suspected the beast had been snacking on their ducks and chickens throughout the previous few days. The discovery drew a crowd of curious onlookers to the site. Locals handed the animal over to the Forest Department once it was secured.
Forest officials now hold the serpent. They plan to take the necessary measures for the python's "safe release into a suitable natural habitat."
