Shillong: Vice Admiral Deepak Kumar Goswami, the Director General of Naval Projects, recently visited Meghalaya and shared his admiration for the state's cultural heritage and natural beauty. During a private trip with his family, the senior Indian Navy officer toured the historic Lum Sohpetbneng site on Thursday.
Goswami noted his appreciation for the Khasi community's efforts to maintain their ancestral faith and customs in a modern world. While visiting the sacred altar area, he observed that it was remarkable to witness a community steadfastly safeguarding its ancestral beliefs and way of life through successive generations. The Admiral and his family also offered prayers at the site.
The group was welcomed by officials including D.L. Nongbri of Seng Khasi Kmie, Paia B. Synrem, and Andrew Jana. These representatives thanked the Admiral for his contributions to national security and defense. Before departing, Goswami documented his experiences in the visitors' book, marking the significance of the trip to Sohpetbneng Peak.
