Kohima: The Western Litsami Union and Kulolau Atoizumi Kuqhakulu have condemned a fatal vehicle accident that occurred on May 25 near the Jaranapani toll gate. The collision claimed the life of Hokugha Chishi, a resident of Litsami village who leaves behind a wife and two young children.
Both organizations attribute the tragedy to the negligence of an inexperienced 20-year-old driver employed by Pushpa Company. According to union officials, the victim was driving a Gypsy when he collided with a dumper truck operated by the firm. The groups also criticized the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation for failing to implement basic road safety measures, such as proper warning signs and clear indicators at the site.
In response to the incident, the unions are calling for immediate ex gratia compensation from the state government, the construction company, and the highway authority. They have requested the swift processing of all insurance claims to support the bereaved family. Law enforcement agencies are expected to conduct a fair and impartial investigation into the collision, and the organizations have vowed to monitor the case until they see accountability for the loss of life.
