Union Minister Ajay Tamta Begins Three-Day Inspection Tour of Sikkim Highways

Gangtok: Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Ajay Tamta arrived at Bagdogra Airport on Thursday to launch a three-day official visit to Sikkim. Running from June 4 to June 6, the trip focuses on evaluating the status of critical infrastructure and connectivity projects across the region.

During his stay, the minister will inspect work on National Highway 10, National Highway 710, and National Highway 510. Beyond these road projects, Tamta is scheduled to chair review meetings regarding various central government policies and development programs currently underway in the state. Officials noted that the visit is "aimed at assessing the progress of ongoing highway construction and upgradation works," while focusing on strategies to support economic growth through improved connectivity.

Local representatives met the minister upon his arrival at the airport to mark the beginning of his engagements. This delegation included officials from the Protocol Unit of Camp Bagdogra and Liaison Officer Jigme Lachungpa, who serves as the Superintendent Engineer of the Roads and Bridges Department.
