Gangtok: Pawan Chamling, president of the Sikkim Democratic Front and former chief minister, condemned the police response to the Cockroach Janta Party Sansad Chalo march. The protest occurred in New Delhi on Monday, which was the opening day of the Monsoon Session. Police clashed with marchers near Parliament.
Chamling insisted that student complaints regarding the NEET examination paper leak are legitimate. He urged the Indian government to prioritize open discussion over physical suppression. "The concerns being raised by the protesting students over the NEET examination paper leak are genuine and deserve to be heard. The Government of India must engage in meaningful dialogue with the students instead of resorting to suppression," Chamling stated on Wednesday, July 22.
The former leader reported that roughly 1,100 students from Sikkim suffered due to the NEET controversy. He slammed the current Sikkim administration for ignoring the crisis. He told the state government to stop playing politics and start supporting the affected youth. He praised the students for their courage. "You are fighting for your rights, and you have every right to question those in positions of authority. That is your constitutional right, and no one can take it away from you," he added.
