Shillong: Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda inaugurated a new hospital in the Ri-Bhoi district of Meghalaya on June 4. The event marks a broader effort by the central government to enhance healthcare infrastructure throughout the Northeast and provide remote communities with better access to advanced medical care.
During the ceremony, Nadda emphasized that the facility serves as a vital step in improving health outcomes for the region. He noted that such local institutions are essential for reducing the burden on patients who previously had to travel outside the state to receive specialized treatment.
Reflecting on the importance of the new development, Nadda said, "It is a matter of great happiness for me to be part of the inauguration of this hospital. I thank MLA Alexander Hek for inviting me and extend my heartfelt congratulations to everyone associated with this remarkable initiative."
Beyond immediate medical services, officials expect the hospital to drive local economic growth by creating jobs and fostering a culture of medical excellence. Nadda visited the state as part of a mission to bolster health services across the region, describing the new hospital as a beacon of hope for residents seeking quality care close to home.
