Ukhrul Launches Revamped Rural Jobs Scheme

Imphal: Ukhrul officials launched the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission Gramin Act on Thursday. The event took place at the DRDA Hall in the Mini Secretariat. This new program replaces the 2005 Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act. It aims to sharpen how the government handles rural jobs.

SDO and BDO Dinringam Kamei opened the session by explaining the goals of the scheme. He focused on how it builds up rural livelihoods. Officials then walked the crowd through the fine print of the new rules and how the system works. Deputy Commissioner Uppuluri Chaitanya pushed residents to take charge of their own neighborhoods. He said, "Collective responsibility and community involvement are essential to achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047."

The venue hosted a live feed of the national launch to show the rollout across the country. Almost 500 people packed the room to watch. Project Director and Additional District Magistrate Polly Makan finished the day with a vote of thanks. Several local officers also attended the event to mark the start of the mission.
