Imphal: Two men were killed and two others injured when armed assailants attacked Kultuh village in Manipur’s Kamjong district early on June 11. Police reported that the attackers arrived at approximately 4:30 a.m. carrying sophisticated weapons and opened fire on residents before setting fire to several homes.

The victims were identified as 35-year-old Letminlun Haokipop and 23-year-old Lunminthang Haokipop. Two other villagers, Jangkhomang and Kamminlal, were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of their injuries. Local sources described the victims as active community members.

The blaze destroyed at least seven houses, leading to extensive property damage. Police stated that the attackers have not yet been identified. Officials have registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, covering charges of murder, rioting, and arson, alongside violations of the Arms Act.

Security forces have launched a search operation in the area to locate those responsible. Authorities have also increased security deployments to prevent further violence. The incident follows heightened state tensions after the recent recovery of six bodies believed to be missing Naga civilians. Police confirmed that "efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible for the violence" while the investigation continues.
