Agartala: Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council Chief Executive Member Runiel Debbarma set his sights on renewable energy and tourism this Wednesday. He held two high-level meetings to map out the future for the region. The goal is simple. He wants solar power and adventure sports to drive the council forward.
Debbarma sat down with officials from the Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency and the Asian Development Bank to talk shop. The team included International Social Safeguard Consultant S.N. Jena, Project Support Specialist Consultant Shahank Dhyani, and Project Director Suraj Debbarma. They discussed rolling out large-scale solar projects under the Transformation Renewable Acceleration in Tripura Program. The plan starts with a pilot project to bring reliable electricity and water to remote villages. Former CEM Purna Chandra Jamatia, former EM Rajesh Tripura, and MDCs Suraj Debbarma and James Debbarma joined the talks.
Debbarma explained the focus on rural power. "Village Solarisation will significantly improve the quality of life in rural and remote areas by ensuring clean energy access and strengthening essential public services," he noted.
The Chief Executive Member also met with the Intrepidus LEONES Tripura Motorcycle Club to plan for tourism growth. They pitched hosting the North East Riders Meet in 2027 within the TTAADC area. This event acts as the biggest motorcycle gathering in Northeast India. Debbarma believes the meet will put the region on the map by highlighting indigenous culture, local food, and hospitality. He wants to bolster tourism infrastructure and get the community involved to boost local jobs. The council is betting on these dual paths to build a stronger, more sustainable future.
