Agartala: Tripura is landing a massive healthcare upgrade. Chief Minister Manik Saha confirmed on Monday that the Centre approved a fleet of AI-powered diagnostic tools to bolster the state medical system. The gear includes portable X-ray units, MRI scanners, and mammography tech. These machines aim to slash wait times and improve early disease detection.

The state Health Department inked an agreement with the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to lock in the deal. The Prime Minister's Fund covers the bill. Tripura is set to receive 48 portable handheld X-ray machines, three 1.5 Tesla MRI scanners, and three Digital Mammography Tomosynthesis units.

Workers will install the equipment at district hospitals in Dhalai, North Tripura, and Gomati. Officials from the state and federal government oversaw the signing. Tripura Health Secretary Kiran Gitte and National Health Mission Director Saju Wahid attended the event. The rollout forms part of a larger plan to modernize facilities. Authorities want to bring advanced technology to the people. One official stated the new diagnostic systems are "expected to strengthen healthcare services by improving early detection of diseases, enhancing diagnostic accuracy and expanding access to advanced medical technology, particularly in underserved regions."
