Agartala: The Tripura Human Rights Commission is demanding answers. Officials want a full report on claims of rotten food and stolen cash at Mahatma Gandhi Higher Secondary School. Parents filed the complaint after kids got sick from the school lunches. The situation is grim.
Guardians claim the headmaster put private contractors in charge of the kitchen, leading to dangerous, low-quality meals. The complaint points to a long history of rot. It says, "students were being served unhygienic and unsafe food" while cash meant for the program vanished into thin air.
The allegations go beyond the kitchen. Parents accuse the school leadership of pocketing admission and development fees collected over several years. They also claim the school forced kids to buy books and bags through shady channels to hide the profits. The Commission reviewed photos and news reports backing these claims.
Justice Arindam Lodh is overseeing the probe. The Commission has ordered the Director of School Education to explain the mess. The department must hand over their findings in three weeks. Officials will decide on further action once the report hits their desk.
