Agartala: Tripura’s pineapple industry scored a massive win on Sunday. The state locked in 18 business commitments worth Rs 11 crore at the Queen Pineapple Global Festival. The deals came together during a high-stakes buyer-seller meeting on the event's second day.
Forty buyers from across the country met with local farmers and exporters. They wanted in on the state's unique, GI-tagged fruit. Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath said the massive interest shows industry faith in the product. Nath stated, "The agreements reflect growing industry confidence in the market potential of Tripura's Geographical Indication-tagged Queen Pineapple and are expected to create new marketing opportunities for farmers."
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan kicked off the proceedings earlier. Local leaders and trade officials joined him on stage. The festival serves as a hub for connecting growers with big-time institutional buyers. Officials believe better processing and branding will keep the money flowing. This event is a clear push to move more premium fruit into domestic and global markets.
