Agartala: Tripura Minister Sudhangshu Das is calling on the state administration to implement tougher measures to prevent cow slaughter. As the official overseeing Animal Resource Development, Fisheries, and SC Welfare, Das emphasized that cows hold a sacred status in Hindu culture as Go-Mata.

Addressing the cultural and spiritual importance of the animal, the minister explained that for many, the cow is revered rather than viewed simply as livestock. He urged officials to ramp up their efforts to stop the practice throughout the state, citing long-standing religious traditions that demand protection for the animals.

Das also issued an appeal to the public to unite in this effort. He characterized the protection of cows as a shared responsibility for all members of society. His remarks have sparked a broader conversation regarding animal welfare and the intersection of religious sentiment with public policy in Tripura.
