Agartala: Tripura officials now require every school to start the day with the full version of the National Song Vande Mataram. The mandate covers government, private, and madrasa schools across the state. The National Anthem follows the song immediately in every morning assembly.

The School Education Department released the order on July 3. It forces students and all staff to stand at attention during the songs to maintain proper decorum. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha oversees the education portfolio and pushed the move to ensure these symbols get proper respect. He stated the move was aimed at ensuring that both the National Song and the National Anthem are accorded due respect in educational institutions.

This rule standardizes the practice across the state. While many schools already sang the National Anthem, adding Vande Mataram was previously optional. Now it is a strict requirement for every institution. Additional Secretary Rajib Datta sent the directive to education directors and board heads for immediate action.
