Agartala: The Tripura Human Rights Commission ordered a full investigation into a newborn's death at AGMC and GBP Hospital. Justice Arindam Lodh wants answers. The commission demanded a report from the Director of Health and Family Welfare by July 28.

The move follows press reports about Pinki Debnath from Khowai district. Her family claims the gynecologist they hired at an Agartala clinic failed them during her pregnancy and labor. Debnath went to the hospital on June 13. Her doctor allegedly skipped the hospital the next day, forcing a cesarean section.

The infant suffered breathing issues immediately. Doctors put the child in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for two weeks. It was not enough. The baby died on June 29.

The THRC report highlighted the medical risks involved in the case. "The newborn, who reportedly developed breathing complications immediately after birth, was admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) but died on June 29 after 15 days of treatment." Doctors suspect a delivery delay caused the fetus to pass meconium, which severely damaged its lungs.

The commission is now pushing for facts. They want to know exactly what went wrong. The investigation remains ongoing.
