Agartala: Torrential rain slammed Tripura over the last 24 hours, wrecking 300 houses and driving thousands from their homes. Water levels in the Khowai, Manu, Deo, and Juri rivers surged past danger marks. The spillover hit plains across Khowai, Dhalai, and Unakoti districts.

Over 3,100 people are now huddled in 31 state-run relief camps. The hardest hit area is the Longtharai Valley with 267 damaged homes. Residents in the Ambassa and Gandacherra sub-divisions also report heavy property losses.

The government sent supplies to the shelters. Officials confirmed, "The government, in a statement, said that necessary food and milk for children have been arranged for the refugees in the shelter camps." Health workers are currently running check-ups on site.

Local leaders including MLA Kalyani Saha Roy and MLA Sambhu Lal Chakma toured the disaster zones today. They worked alongside district council members and officials to pull stranded residents from flooded buildings.
