Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha slammed the opposition for their fake outrage regarding the state government's recent ban on private practice. The prohibition specifically targets doctors working at GB Pant Hospital and the Agartala Government Medical College. Saha told critics to stop shedding cosmetic tears over the policy.

Saha claimed major medical groups support the move. He met with staff to ensure the policy shift would not hurt their pockets. The government pledged to address all reasonable financial concerns to keep doctors satisfied. Senior doctors reportedly told the Chief Minister they stand behind the decision.

The state is rolling out a 20 percent Non-Practicing Allowance to offset lost income. Officials plan to align these pay structures with Seventh Pay Commission recommendations. This move ensures the new pay incentives match or exceed what doctors previously earned from private work. The Chief Minister noted, "When the doctors are not worried, why is the opposition so busy politicising the issue?"

Saha insisted the policy intends to improve patient care across the state. He urged politicians to focus on the needs of ordinary citizens. The government remains committed to ensuring public health services run effectively.
