Agartala: The Tripura Cabinet gifted Commonwealth Games gold medalist Asmita Dey 2.5 gonda of land in Agartala. This plot covers 0.0500 acres. Cabinet spokesperson Sushanta Chowdhury confirmed the government waived the Rs 33.50 lakh premium for the judoka. The state issued the land to recognize her gold-medal performance in Glasgow.
Jobs are coming. The Cabinet greenlit the hiring of 185 Junior Pump Operators for the Public Works Department. These Group C roles require Madhyamik and ITI qualifications via the Joint Recruitment Board of Tripura. The Animal Resources Development Department will fill 57 faculty slots at the Veterinary Science College through the Tripura Public Service Commission. This includes 17 Professors, 20 Associate Professors, and 20 Assistant Professors.
The Public Works Department also received approval for 310 vacancies in Tripura Engineering Service Grade-V A and B. These Junior Engineer roles cover civil, electrical, and mechanical disciplines. The TPSC will manage the hiring.
Tripura scrapped the Permanent Resident of Tripura Certificate requirement for state jobs. The High Court flagged the rule as inconsistent with Article 16(3) of the Constitution. Applicants now need five years of continuous regular schooling inside the state to qualify. Regarding the changes, Chowdhury stated, "The earlier requirement of producing a Permanent Resident of Tripura Certificate has been withdrawn."
Four new fire stations will open in Boxanagar, Manu Bankul, Ganganagar, and Garjee. The government also boosted grants for ex-servicemen families.

The state boosted its financial commitment to ex-servicemen and their dependents. The emergency relief fund jumped from Rs 5,000 to Rs 50,000. Officials also hiked student scholarships and raised the widow maintenance allowance to Rs 15,000.
New details emerged on the 310 engineering slots. The 195 degree-holder posts and 115 diploma-holder roles cover civil, mechanical, and electrical fields. Specifically, Grade V-A includes 169 civil, 8 mechanical, and 18 electrical roles. Grade V-B adds 104 civil, 5 mechanical, and 6 electrical positions.
The land allotment for Asmita Dey sits at Abhoynagar, and the state covered an exact premium of Rs 33,50,239. The new schooling requirement for jobs applies to any five years of regular education between Class 1 and Class 12.
