Agartala: Cybercriminals have drained 83 crore rupees from people in Tripura over the last eight years. Police are now fighting back. Director General of Police Anurag Dhankar confirmed that authorities have frozen 15.43 crore rupees and already returned 1.50 crore to victims. The state is scaling up its defense as digital threats grow.

Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha pushed for tighter security at an Agartala workshop. He demanded constant vigilance to protect sensitive government information. "Therefore, institutional data and cyber security are key priorities. We have to ensure continuous vigilance, robust security mechanisms and capacity building to safeguard critical digital assets," Sinha stated.

The state government is modernizing outdated systems to stop hackers. IT Director Jeya Ragul Geshan pointed to the new Tripura Security Operations Centre as a primary defense line. This facility runs 24/7 to guard government infrastructure. Officials believe a mix of strict policy and constant monitoring will help turn the tide against state-wide fraud.
