Agartala: The Tripura unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party is initiating preparations for the upcoming Village Committee elections within the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council. State BJP president Abhishek Debroy confirmed that while ground-level work is underway, the final strategy remains subject to approval from the party's central leadership in New Delhi.
This move follows a recent update from the Tripura State Election Commission to the Supreme Court, confirming that the elections are set for September. This schedule marks the end of a ten-year hiatus for these local polls. Debroy emphasized that as a national organization, the party must coordinate its approach with central authorities.
Addressing the timeline, Debroy stated, "As far as I have learnt, the Village Committee election will be held in September. We still have time. BJP is a national party, and several decisions have to be taken after consultation with the central leadership." The state unit intends to be active on the ground as it awaits further guidance to finalize its electoral path.
