Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha is planning a sit-down with his Mizoram counterpart to settle a bitter boundary feud. The two leaders met recently at a North Eastern Council session in Shillong. They hashed out a plan to end years of friction along the state lines.

"During the recent NEC plenary session at Shillong, I spoke with Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma over the inter-state boundary dispute and he agreed to resolve the issue. He is keen to visit our state to sort out the problem," Saha said.

The states share 107 kilometers of border. Tensions center on the village of Phuldungsei. Residents from both sides often clash over the territory. Saha wants to keep things orderly before the two leaders shake hands. He pushed for official-level talks to start first. These preliminary meetings will map out the problem. Once the experts finish their work, the two chief ministers will meet to hammer out a final deal.
