Kohima: The Makury Tribal Council is demanding a formal investigation after an alleged drone strike hit the Mt Horeb Camp of the NSCN-EF. The incident took place inside Myanmar territory on October 11. Drones flew from the Indian side at 12:30 am Myanmar Standard Time. Explosions followed soon after. Two Naga Army personnel suffered injuries in the bombardment.
The council warned that these military actions threaten regional stability. Residents in nearby villages now live in fear. "The safety, dignity and peaceful existence of the Naga people could not be disregarded," the council stated in a public release. They argued that these strikes ignore the territorial sovereignty of neighbouring states.
Tribal leaders cited Article 2(4) of the United Nations Charter. They claim states must avoid using force against the integrity of another nation. The MTC wants India and Myanmar to clarify why these cross-border operations occur. They also called for an end to the arming of groups that escalate local violence. Officials must now ensure that future military conduct follows international humanitarian law.
