Aizawl: Tipra Motha is demanding a swift investigation into a shooting that wounded its Village Committee candidate, Khakendra Reang, during polling in Tripura. The attack occurred Monday at 2:15 pm in the Gamaria area of the Matarbari constituency. Violence flared at Warengbari in Gomati district. Three people took hits.

Reang suffered a gunshot injury. Medics first treated him in Gomati before moving him to GB Pant Hospital in Agartala. District council member Suraj Debbarma visited the candidate late Monday. Reang is stable. Debbarma claims Reang identified attackers tied to the BJP, though police have yet to confirm these claims.

Debbarma pressed the Tripura State Election Commission for a detailed report and quick legal action against the shooters. He highlighted a recurring pattern of election violence. "Whenever elections are held, such incidents of violence create fear among people," Debbarma said. Police continue to hunt for suspects and are working to piece together the events surrounding the TTAADC election firestorm.
