Agartala: Tripura police tracked down two suspects Wednesday night for a shooting that bloodied the September 28 Village Committee elections in Warrangbari. The attack left a Tipra Motha Party candidate and two other people wounded. Officers grabbed the pair in the Champaknagar and Takajala areas of Sepahijala district.

Gomati District Additional Superintendent of Police Rajib Debnath confirmed the arrests. He stated, "Following the firing incident during the Village Committee election in Warrangbari, a case was registered. Based on credible information, two persons allegedly involved in the incident were arrested from the Champaknagar and Takajala areas of Sepahijala district."

Authorities produced the men in court Thursday. Police now want them in remand to keep the interrogation moving. A joint task force involving the Udaipur Sub-Divisional Police Officer, the RK Pur Police Station chief, and Sepahijala district officers handled the operation. Investigators are still hunting for other shooters involved in the attack. The Tipra Motha Party previously issued a 72-hour deadline for arrests after their workers blocked roads and confronted the State Election Commissioner.
