Guwahati: A vehicle crashed into a streetlight pole in the Nagaon district of Assam, killing three people and injuring two others. The accident happened at Kenapatty in Puranigudam as the car traveled from Arunachal Pradesh toward Guwahati. Fire consumed the vehicle immediately after the impact. Three passengers trapped inside died at the scene.
The car, registered as AR 01 W 5107, carried occupants reportedly from Bihar. Two survivors, Vikas Kumar and Sonu Kumar, suffered critical injuries and moved to Guwahati for urgent medical care. The driver lost control of the vehicle before slamming into the middle-road pole. Officials confirmed the vehicle belonged to Vikas Kumar, while Sonu Kumar operated the wheel during the incident.
The victims who died had boarded the vehicle mid-trip. Police are now digging into what caused the crash. As officials stated, "Three people were burnt to death and two others were critically injured after a vehicle they were travelling in caught fire following a collision with a streetlight pole in Assam's Nagaon district."
