Three Arrested for Murder of West Jaintia Hills Man

Shillong: West Jaintia Hills Police arrested three men for the murder of 28-year-old Damehi Mulieh. They caught the suspects after tracking his stolen Maruti Alto K10 to Assam. The victim lived in Ialong and was found dead in Khliehriat on July 31.

Gumrah Police in Cachar district, Assam, stopped the car and held the three men inside. A team from the Phramer Traffic Cell traveled to Gumrah to secure the vehicle. Superintendent of Police Jagpal Singh Dhanoa confirmed the family identified the car as belonging to Mulieh. "The family of the deceased later identified the vehicle as belonging to Damehi Mulieh. Based on the recovery of the vehicle and other evidence, a case of vehicle theft and murder was registered at Jowai Police Station," Dhanoa said.

Police arrested Dapjingkmen Paslein, 26, and Samuel Iakai, 25, on July 31. They tracked down the third suspect, 26-year-old Duniwankmen Sutnga, on Tuesday. The suspects are now in custody and have appeared before a court. Investigators continue to piece together the events surrounding the crime. Dhanoa credited the Gumrah Police for their help and asked the public to report suspicious activity by calling 112.
