Guwahati: Barpeta Police arrested three men for a break-in at the Keotkuchi Primary Health Centre. Thieves raided the facility on the night of July 3. They smashed the main door lock to get inside. Dr. Shahinur Rahman, the facility's in-charge officer, filed an FIR on July 15 after discovering the theft.
The burglars took eight solar batteries, an inverter, a monitor, and CCTV cameras. They even ripped out a window grill at the back of the cold chain room to make their exit. Investigators registered Barpeta PS Case No. 260/2026 under Sections 331(4) and 305(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Cops tracked the crime to three local suspects: 34-year-old Suna Miya, 26-year-old Mohibul Islam, and Mograb Ali. All three live in Barpeta district. Officers raided their homes and seized four of the stolen batteries along with one inverter machine. Police said, "efforts are underway to recover the remaining stolen items and further investigation into the case is in progress."
The suspects appeared before a judge. Authorities continue to hunt for the rest of the missing medical center equipment.
