Agartala: The Tripura Human Rights Commission stepped in after local police refused to file a report regarding a cyber fraud case. The victim lost money to online criminals but found no help at the station. Officers sat on the complaint for months. They did nothing.

Commission members reviewed the case and found the police failed in their duty. The panel ordered the department to register an FIR immediately. They also demanded the state provide financial compensation to the victim for the harassment and loss suffered during this ordeal.

In their formal order, the commission stated, "Registration of FIR is mandatory in cognizable offences." The panel now expects a full compliance report from the superintendent of police. The case remains a stark reminder of the struggle citizens face when authorities refuse to act on digital crimes.
