Imphal: Thadoi Yumnam secured the title of Miss Universe Manipur 2026 at the Chandrakriti Auditorium in Imphal on June 21. Following her win, she will advance to compete in the Miss Universe India 2026 pageant this July. The competition featured 20 finalists from across the state, with Zeneva Laikhuram named as the first runner-up and Alish Maibam as the second runner-up.

Organized by fashion designer and State Director Robert Naorem, the event partnered with the Manipur AIDS Control Society and For Better Kangleipak to emphasize women's empowerment and social outreach. Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla and Miss Universe India 2025, Manika Vishwakarma, attended the gala to support the contestants.

Reflecting on her victory, an emotional Yumnam said, "I feel really ecstatic right now. I cannot believe that I really won. It's a dream that I've been dreaming of since last year." She noted that her success follows a previous attempt where she did not place, highlighting her resilience and the support she received from her family, teachers, and friends.

The judging panel praised the participants for their maturity and focus on social advocacy. Vishwakarma commended the group for their ability to articulate the values of their home state. As she prepares for the national stage, Yumnam intends to use the platform to represent the unity, beauty, and compassion of Manipur to a broader audience.
