Imphal: The Tenyimi Union Dimapur held an emergency meeting on June 3 to address the escalating unrest in Manipur. After assessing the impact of the ongoing conflict on the Naga community, the organization issued a series of resolutions aimed at ensuring safety and protecting territorial integrity.
The union expressed deep sorrow for the loss of life and suffering experienced by Nagas in the region. They officially extended their solidarity to those impacted by the violence, pledging to support the affected families and communities throughout the crisis.
A primary point of concern for the leadership is the abduction of six Naga individuals by Kuki militants. The organization issued a firm demand for their immediate and unconditional release. Officials urged relevant authorities to prioritize the safe return of the captives, stating, "The Union strongly condemns the reported abduction of six Naga individuals by Kuki militants."
Beyond the immediate security crisis, the union addressed long-term territorial and social concerns. They warned that they will not tolerate any encroachment or unlawful activities within Tenyimi ancestral lands. Additionally, the group expressed alarm regarding the influx of immigrants into these territories. They are now calling on traditional institutions and government authorities to strictly enforce existing laws to safeguard the resources and rights of the indigenous Naga people.
