Guwahati: Tension boiled over at the Namtola Tea Estate in Assam on Wednesday. Workers walked off the job to protest the death of Ishwar Munda. He disappeared while weighing tea leaves at Section No. 5 on Tuesday.

Munda never came home after his shift. His family and neighbors searched the estate and eventually found his body. Namtola police arrived to recover the remains and moved them to Charaideo District Hospital for a post-mortem.

Protesters blamed the management for negligence. They questioned why supervisors failed to alert the family when Munda did not return. The local unit of the Assam Tea Tribes Students Association demanded action. They submitted a memo seeking a fair investigation and money for the family.

Police launched a probe into the tragedy. Investigators are waiting for medical results to confirm how Munda died. The protesters stated, "demanding a thorough investigation into the incident." Work remains halted as the community waits for answers.
