Imphal: The Tangkhul Naga Long has blasted investigators over the recent arrests linked to the brutal killing of six Liangmai Naga civilians. The group labels the detention of two suspects a bizarre exercise. They demand that authorities target the real killers instead.

Manipur Police, the National Investigation Agency, and the CRPF rounded up Pradip and his wife Ayingbi on July 10. These individuals hail from Leilon Vaiphei village. The arrests follow the May 2026 abduction of 18 civilians and the grisly discovery of six bodies weeks later.

TNL leaders argue the arrests are just a distraction. They claim the Kuki-Zo Council already admitted to the killings. The group points to testimony from survivors identifying village chief Lalboi Vaiphei and Kuki National Front-Presidential fighters as the true culprits. Agencies have ignored these leads.

The organization insists that law enforcement must shift focus to those named by survivors. They expect real progress soon. "The state government and the law enforcement agencies must remain steadfastly committed to truth, transparency and accountability to deliver justice in the larger interest of the people," the group stated.
