Tangkhul Naga Long calls Liangmai murder arrests a diversion

Imphal: The Tangkhul Naga Long Working Committee labeled recent arrests in the Liangmai Naga killings a bizarre move. They claim authorities are shielding the actual killers. On July 10, a joint team from the Manipur Police, National Investigation Agency, and Central Reserve Police Force picked up Pradip and his wife Ayingbi in Leilon Vaiphei village. These arrests relate to the May 13 abduction of 18 civilians and the subsequent murder of six victims found dead on June 10.

The TNL argues this police action distracts from the true perpetrators. The committee insists the Kuki-Zo Council previously claimed responsibility for the atrocity. Survivors pointed fingers elsewhere. They identified village chief Lalboi Vaiphei, local women, and KNF-P gunmen as the ones behind the violence. The committee released a statement calling for justice. They want a real probe. "Justice must be delivered by bringing all those genuinely responsible to book in the interest of lasting peace and public confidence."

The group demands the State Government stop the runaround. They expect transparency from investigators to restore public trust. No one has faced real accountability for these killings yet. The TNL vows to keep pressing for the arrest of the actual culprits.
